Bracknell Forest
The Commission is carrying out an electoral review of Bracknell Forest Borough Council.
The aim of the electoral review is to recommend ward boundaries that mean each councillor represents approximately the same number of voters.
We also aim to ensure that the ward boundaries reflect the interests and identities of local communities, as well as promoting effective local government.
To achieve these aims, we need to re-draw ward boundaries across Bracknell Forest. You can find out more about the review below.

Recommendations become law
The Bracknell Forest Council (Electoral Changes) Order 2021, to implement recommendations made by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) for new electoral arrangements in Bracknell Forest Council, was made on 26 July 2021.
New ward arrangements for Bracknell Forest Council have now successfully completed a 40 day period of Parliamentary scrutiny and will come into force at the local elections in May 2023.

On 10 June 2021, the Bracknell Forest (Electoral Changes) Order 2021 was laid in draft in Parliament.
The draft order, if made, would give effect to the final recommendations that were consulted on during the Local Government Boundary Commission for England’s review of electoral arrangements in Bracknell Forest Council and published on 08 December 2020.
The draft order will be laid in Parliament for a period of 40 sitting days. Parliament can either accept or reject our recommendations. If accepted, the new electoral arrangements will come into force at the next scheduled elections for Bracknell Forest Council in May 2023.

On 08 December 2020, we published final recommendations for future electoral arrangements in Bracknell Forest Council.

As a result of our final recommendations on new warding patterns, we are making changes to the parish electoral arrangements for the following parish and town councils:

The changes we have proposed must now be approved by Parliament.
A draft Order - the legal document which brings into force our recommendations - will now be laid before Parliament.
The draft Order will provide for the new electoral arrangements for Bracknell Forest Council to come into effect at the local elections in 2023.

As part of the initial stages of the review, we consulted with Bracknell Forest Borough Council on the most appropriate number of councillors to be elected to the council in future.
We received 2 submissions on council size:
The Commission is minded to recommend that 40 councillors should serve Bracknell Forest Borough Council in the future. This is 2 fewer than the current number of councillors.
Review Body
An electoral review of Bracknell Forest Unitary Authority (UA) started on 11 April 2001.
The Order implementing The Electoral Commission's decision on the final recommendations of this review has been made and can be viewed on Her Majesty's Stationery Office's website. The Implementation Team section of the Commission's website explains how the Commission's decisions on The Boundary Committee for England's final recommendations are made into Orders. The current boundaries of the electoral wards and divisions can be viewed on Ordnance Survey's election maps website. Parish warding is not shown on the election maps website. It can be seen on the mapping from the Committee's final recommendations below; any modifications are listed in the Explanatory Note at the back of the Order.
