Our recommendations for new electoral and boundary arrangements.

We review the electoral and boundary arrangements of councils to make sure they are fair. Our reviews include at least two rounds of public consultation before we make recommendations for change.
North Somerset Council is due to have it's boundary arrangements reviewed. The initial consultation will begin 25 November 2025.
18 November 2025 | We decide how many councillors there should be |
25 November 2025 - 2 February 2026 | We carry out an initial public consultation with communities |
5 May 2026 - 13 July 2026 | We carry out a public consultation on our proposals |
29 September 2026 | We publish our recommendations |
TBC | We ask Parliament to approve our recommendations |
2027 | New arrangements apply to local elections |

Effective date
The North Somerset (Electoral Changes) Order 2014 was made on 2 December 2014.
The new arrangements came into effect at the May 2015 elections.
