Norfolk County Council
Due to the delay in publishing draft recommendations, the implementation date for Norfolk's electoral arrangements will be 2025.
The Commission is carrying out an electoral review of Norfolk County Council.
The aim of the electoral review is to recommend divisions boundaries that mean each councillor represents approximately the same number of voters.
We also aim to ensure that the divisions boundaries reflect the interests and identities of local communities, as well as promoting effective local government.
To achieve these aims, we need to re-draw divisions boundaries across Norfolk. You can find out more about the review below.

Recommendations become law
The Norfolk County Council (Electoral Changes) Order 2021, to implement recommendations made by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) for new electoral arrangements in Norfolk County Council, was made on 1 November 2021.
New division arrangements for Norfolk County Council have now successfully completed a 40 day period of Parliamentary scrutiny and will come into force at the local elections in May 2025.

On 11th May, we published final recommendations for future electoral arrangements in Norfolk County Council.
We have now completed our electoral review of Norfolk.

As a result of our final recommendations on new division patterns, we are making changes to the parish electoral arrangements for the following parish and town councils:
- Attleborough Parish Council
- Bradwell Parish Council
- Costesssey Parish Council
- Thorpe StAndrews Parish Council
- Wymondham Parish Council

The changes we have proposed must now be approved by Parliament.
A draft Order - the legal document which brings into force our recommendations - will now be laid before Parliament.
The draft Order will provide for the new electoral arrangements for Norfolk County Council to come into effect at the local elections in 2025.

The Commission now needs information from people and groups across Norfolk to help it to produce new divisions boundaries to accommodate 84 councillors.

As part of the initial stages of the review, we consulted with Norfolk County Council on the most appropriate number of councillors to be elected to the council in future.
We received 3 submissions on council size.
The Commission is minded to recommend that 84 councillors should serve Norfolk County Council in the future. This is no change from the current number of councillors.
The Boundary Committee for England (BCFE) began reviewing the electoral arrangements of Norfolk County Council on 11 March 2003.
The Order implementing The Electoral Commission's final recommendations of this review has been made and can be viewed on Her Majesty's Stationery Office's website. The Order refers to a map comprising Sheet 1 and Sheet 2. The Implementation Team section of The Electoral Commission's website explains how The Boundary Committee for England's final recommendations are made into Orders.
