We have now completed our electoral review of Cheshire East. The changes we have proposed must be approved by Parliament. An Order - the legal document which brings into force our recommendations - will be laid in Parliament. Parliament can either accept or reject our recommendations. If accepted, the new electoral arrangements will come into force at the next elections for Cheshire East Council in 2011.
Stage Three - draft recommendations
25 November 2009: The Boundary Committee for England published its draft recommendations for Cheshire East on 10 November 2009. We have since identified some inconsistencies in the report. Several inaccurate electorate figures have been used in the report along with inaccurate details on Map 7 (Sandbach) and Map 8 (Crewe).
Below is a link to an amended table which provides accurate figures for our proposed wards. This should replace the original version detailed in Appendix C1 of the report on page 40. We have also clarified Map 7 and Map 8 and the updated versions can be accessed below.
Clarification to Cheshire East draft recommendations - Appendix C1 (PDF)
We have published our draft recommendations (PDF) for electoral arrangements for Cheshire East Council. The review is being carried out to decide the number of councillors and the boundaries of electoral wards for the unitary authority which took on local government functions for Cheshire (along with Cheshire West & Chester Council) in April 2009.
We have also published a summary of the report (PDF)

Preliminary council size consultation
On 24 February 2009, we started the electoral review for the new Cheshire East unitary authority. During the current six week preliminary stage of the review (until 6 April 2009) we invited proposals for the council size of the new Cheshire East Council. We only considered comments on council size at this time, and we are considering detailed electoral arrangements for Cheshire East during two further periods of consultation later in 2009.
